Set a permanent link

#1 by Clairon

Today, I've deploy an otree application on a server.
I've created my session and i've send the link to the participant.
The problem is my budget is around 150 participants so my session had 150 slot but people click and then they go away.
So I had to create another session but i have now a new link.
Is it possible pour keep the same link for two session and once the first one is full then the second one take up for the participant? Or will it be possible to extend the session once the limit is reach ?

I don’t think that’s possible.

You have to use a room for predetermining URLs: https://otree.readthedocs.io/en/latest/rooms.html#creating-rooms. The “name“ attribute becomes part of the URL. This way, you know the URL in advance and can also “recycle” it.

If you send out the session-wide URL, you have to usually set the session size to a (substantially) higher value than the number of observations you intend to collect. Apart from potential participants clicking on the link but then not participating, as you described, you have to do so because many e-mail clients or messaging apps like WhatsApp generate previews of URLs and thereby filli up slots in your study.
