Running experiment with 800 participants

#1 by seyit

Hi all,

I wanted to ask your experience in running large scale experiments in oTree. In one of our projects, we ran an experiment recently with 800 participants (on a single server). However, the server crashed. This was not a memory issue, but rather the CPU was overloaded.

The question is if there is a limit to how many participants oTree can handle at one time on one server. We have run with 200 participants before without a problem and it ran on the same setup of the server. We realise that an oTree server is single threaded and it can only run on one processor. But this has not been a problem before.

Can you please share your experiences and/or knowledge on this?

Thanks,
Seyit
