I have released a BETA version of oTree. The admin "Monitor" tab shows the status of participants who are on wait pages. See the attached screenshot.

If the user is actively waiting on the page, it shows 🟢.
If the user has the tab open in the background, it shows 🟡.
If the user closed the oTree window, it shows a gray icon.

This can help you understand when participants are actually waiting, vs. when they have left the experiment.

You can install it with:

pip3 install otree -U --pre
