I am running a RHEL server on a virtual machine at our university. We must use our own server for data protection rules that are non-negotiable. I have set up the otree server, and everything seems to run fine (incl. PSQL, admin password etc. on the server_check site). I have used nginx, with an SSL certificate. The website is called ses-otree-5.unifr.ch. The issue is that when participants try to access the study using the room-wide link (ses-otree-5.unifr.ch/room/prolific1), they see ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT (in chrome) or Safari Can't Open the Page (in Safari). I can replicate this behaviour on my private laptop. What is very irritating is that if I go first to ses-otree-5.unifr.ch (which redirects to the login), I am able to connect to the room wide URL ses-otree-5.unifr.ch/room/prolific1 without any issue. I have spent more hours than I would like to admit on trying to find the issue but I could not find it. If anyone has an idea, please let me know. Thanks

I found out that the issue was with the URL that oTree provides in the admin panel. Although we have an SSL certificate, the link there is always HTTP http://ses-otree-5.unifr.ch/room/prolific1 But it should be HTTPS: https://ses-otree-5.unifr.ch/room/prolific1 So, I fixed it by manually adjusting the link. But how does one get links in the admin panel that use HTTPS?
